From 22 to 25 May 2025, the historic town of Mértola becomes a living medina during the Islamic Festival of Mértola.
This unique biennial event celebrates the region’s Moorish heritage with a traditional souk, live Arabic music, dance, crafts, exhibitions, food and cultural talks. In a setting of cobbled streets and ancient walls, East meets West on the banks of the Guadiana River. Details at the official website.
